What kind of CNY plant or fruit are you?
There are so many different kinds of Chinese New Year plants and flowers out there to choose from, so we thought why not match them to some characteristics. We have gathered some lucky CNY plants and match them with personalities that we think fits best! Comparisons are made for fun and jokes and should not be taken seriously.
Everyone likes you.
Have you ever humbly felt that everyone likes you? Perhaps you might be the favourite sibling? Or cousin? Friend? And maybe even everyone? You just might have similar traits to a Money Plant! Everyone loves the money plant for they believe it will bring them a fortune. We would like to twist it and say that everyone likes you because you have a great personality and you are someone that is comfortable to be around with. Does it sound familiar to you? Or perhaps you have a ‘Money Plant’ friend or family member as well.
The Popular Catchphrase
We all have that one uncle that wears the same red T-shirt to every CNY gathering and will always shout ‘ONG ONG LAI’. Were you guilty of shouting that catchphrase? We believe that some do not know what ‘ONG ONG LAI’ actually means but still shout it likewise. Unless you are that uncle, ‘ONG LAI’ is the Hokkien translation of Pineapple which also translates to good luck and incoming fortune. If that catchphrase is your cup of tea during the festive CNY chances are, you are a pineapple.
Mr or Mrs Bamboo
Chinese New Year is one of those festive periods where we get to visit relatives that we do not really get to see often, or perhaps we may only see them during CNY! I am sure that the majority enjoy going from house to house visiting different sides of a family, and not to mention receiving a ton of red packets! (unfortunately applicable for teenagers only). But! I am sure that some of you are not keen when it comes to visiting, not because of a particular family member, but the pets they possess!
Not everyone is a pet lover and some are afraid of even being in the same house as them! It is understandable that the fear may come from fierce looking cats or loud barking dogs. Does it sound familiar to you?
If animals isn’t your thing and you try your best to stay away from them, you are probably a lucky bamboo plant! Now why in the world would you be a bamboo plant? Well, if you did not know, bamboo plants that you commonly see during Chinese New Year are actually poisonous to Cats and Dogs!
If in any case a cat or dog eats a bamboo plant, it will be necessary to seek medical attention right away. So do take precautions!
Cockscomb Plant
Chinese New Year involves a lot of socialising which may be favourable to some. For some, they only see each other during CNY thus they have much to catch up too. I have seen some that talk all the way through the night before saying their goodbyes! Does that sound familiar to you? Perhaps you may be one of those who really loves to socialise?
Well, if you are, you are probably a Cockscomb plant! They are vibrant in colour which could be reflected as a personality. Their name comes from the top part of a cocks head which is essentially a head piece. Now why would we say that those who love to talk are ‘related’ to roosters?
There is a believe that roosters love to talk. This especially applies for people who were born in the year of the rooster! Were you born in the year of the Rooster? Or perhaps you may know some who were born in the year of the Rooster!
Were you any of the plants or fruits that we mentioned? What kind of CNY plant do you think you are?
