Every year during Christmas we always see the same colors, whether it be green for the trees, gold for a star and red for presents. We see the same colors every year and each year we get equally or maybe even more excited. But do you know where do these colors actually come from? | ~Green~
Green would arguably be the most popular color during Christmas. Let’s take a mistletoe for example. The mistletoe has been around for a thousand years and its actual purpose during the olden days was to actually brighten up the place during the long cold winters. It also acted as a reminder to everyone that winter would not last forever and spring was just around the corner.

~Gold~
Gold adds not only a luxurious but magical touch to Christmas. Gold has symbolism to light and fire to keep us warm and the place well lit during the winter. Biblically speaking, Gold (not the color but the element) was one of the presents Jesus received when he was a baby by a wise man.

| ~Red~
When I think of red, I think of Santa! What do you think? Well, red actually symbolizes holly berries which have symbolism to the blood of Jesus when he was crucified. Red also happened to be the color of a Bishop and eventually, the color famously represents Santa to this day. (fun fact: Santa’s suit was actually green before it was famously known as red )

~Blue~
Blue may be seen as the color of the sky above our heads, but blue would actually represent status in the medieval times as, during that time, blue dye and paint were priced higher than gold. Mother Mary was often drawn wearing blue to show her importance.
